ShredCam is a skate camera app for skateboarders who film clips by themselves or film with friends.
I built ShredCam to solve a simple problem I kept running into during skate sessions: recording too many clips, wasting storage, and having to clean up my camera roll later.
Hi, I’m Luis Calvillo — founder of Mighty Apps LLC, iOS developer, and an everyday skateboarder. I created ShredCam because I was tired of going out for a session, filming dozens of tricks, and coming home with a phone full of shaky, missed, or unusable clips.
The problem was not just filming the trick. The real problem was everything that came after.
I would record long clips, miss the trick, try again, forget to stop recording, and then spend time later sorting through a messy camera roll. That workflow killed momentum and filled my phone with footage I did not need.
So I built the exact skate camera app I wished existed.
ShredCam is a skate camera app built around the real workflow of solo skateboard filming: set up the shot, try the trick, review the clip, and keep only the footage worth saving.
What Is ShredCam?
ShredCam is a focused skate camera app designed for skateboarders who want to film cleaner clips, save storage, and keep only the best takes.
Instead of trying to be a full video editor or social media app, ShredCam focuses on one core idea:
After every clip, ShredCam asks: “Save or Delete?”
That simple prompt helps you decide right away if the clip is worth keeping. Good take? Save it. Bad attempt? Delete it immediately. Almost landed it and want to review it later? Save it.
This keeps your camera roll clean and helps you stay focused on skating instead of managing footage.
Why I Built ShredCam
When you film skateboarding by yourself, you are not just the skater. You are also the filmer.
You have to think about the camera angle, the lighting, the framing, the trick, the landing, and whether the clip is even worth keeping. Most camera apps are not built around that workflow.
That is why I wanted ShredCam to be more than a regular camera app. I wanted it to feel like a skate camera app made specifically for how skaters record tricks.
ShredCam was created around real skate sessions.
The goal is simple: help skaters film smarter, waste less storage, and spend more time actually skating.
Built From Real Skate Sessions
ShredCam was not created as a random camera app idea. It came from years of filming skateboarding, building skate apps, and understanding how frustrating solo filming can be.
Before ShredCam, I founded ShredSpots, a skate spot discovery app that grew to over 100,000 downloads and was acquired in 2021. ShredCam continues that same mission: building useful tools for skateboarders.
As both a skater and iOS developer, I wanted ShredCam to feel simple, fast, and practical during a real session; not like another bloated video app.
Key Features of ShredCam
ShredCam is built for fast, simple solo skate filming, with a skate camera app workflow that helps you record, review, save, or delete clips without breaking your session.
Key features include:
- A clean, distraction-free camera interface
- Instant Save or Delete after every clip
- Fisheye-friendly filming for skaters using wide-angle lens attachments
- A simple workflow for solo skaters who film themselves
- Fast performance without unnecessary editing tools or social features
ShredCam is not trying to replace a full editing app. It is designed to help you capture the clip first, keep the good takes, and delete the rest before they clutter your phone.
Built by a Skater, for Skaters
ShredCam came from personal frustration.
I wanted a skate camera app that understood how skaters actually film: setting up the phone, trying the trick, checking the clip, deciding if it is worth keeping, and trying again.
That is why ShredCam is intentionally simple.
No bloated interface. No complicated editing timeline. No distractions.
Just film, review, save or delete, and keep skating.

- Filming with a tripod, phone mount, or fisheye lens

How ShredCam Is Different From a Regular Camera App
The default camera app is great for general videos, but it is not built around the way skateboarders actually film clips.
When you are skating, most attempts are not keepers. You might miss the trick, roll out of frame, land sketchy, or want to try again. With a normal camera app, all of that footage stays in your camera roll until you clean it up later.
ShredCam changes that workflow by helping you decide right after every clip. Instead of recording a full session and sorting through everything later, you can quickly save the good takes and delete the bad ones while you are still skating.
Film Smarter. Keep Only the Bangers.
Skateboarding already takes patience. Filming it should not make the session harder.
ShredCam helps you stay in the moment by making clip management part of the filming process. Instead of waiting until later to delete bad footage, you decide right after each clip.
That small change makes a big difference.
Less clutter. Less wasted storage. Less time sorting through footage later.
More skating.
